Toy Angel Day
In April 2006, The Lily Sanctuary
was chosen as that months recipients of Angel Toys for the all the
birds. With about 50 birds, that was a tall order to fill. But when the
"Angels" arrived with a truck bed loaded with many boxes, we were nearly
speechless. One of the Angel volunteers is a grade school teacher. She
had her class draw a "Toy Angel" to adorn each box. That made it all
extra special. As the volunteers each took a box to open. They were
amazed by not only what treasures were in the boxes, but where some of
the boxes came from. Not only all over the USA, but from other
countries! There were more toys than we could count.
These volunteers get the components, create the toys, AND mail them out.
They are truly Angels

Parrot Toy Angel Day for The Lily Sanctuary Masterette Of Ceremonies! Don't forget the little birds. Jester has just entered the building
www.Parrottoyangels.com is a group of volunteers all around the world that hand make parrot toys, and donate them to parrot rescue organizations every where. The Lily Sanctuary was chosen for donation April 2006. Lily was the first to test out the new toys, and well she should! Several of the sanctuary birds joined in the festivities. Still not exactly who had more fun.....the birds or the humans. Here stands the proud "parronts" of the sanctuary. There were toys made for every size bird thre is. The work put into these toys was just wonderful. Among the many components used in toy making, spiral cut straws were used in the little bird toys. Athena is one of the real comics of the sanctuary. After being placed in the pile of treasures, she looked around in awe saying," OOOOOOOOOH, OOOOOOOOOH."
I think she summed it up quite well. Jester is a real star when it comes to showing off to "his public" He really hams it up at fund raising events, and especially loves to have his picture taken. Unpacking the toys for the Lily Volunteers was like a giant birthday party. With the ooooos, aaaaaaaahs, giggles and squeals, you would have thought they were gettings gifties. Baby, a resident amazon, looks picture perfect in this colorful swing just her size.
