Jack, Yellow-Naped Amazon

Jack is a Yellow-naped Amazon, 25-30 years old. He has gorgeous, almost-fluorescent colors and likes to talk and eat. He’s only been at the sanctuary since October and is still finding his comfort zone. Jack was imported from the Amazon (when it was legal) and his former owner had him from then on. He’s a very sweet boy once he gets to know you. He likes to have head scratched, and like most Amazons, is a perch potato.

Sam, Yellow Naped Amazon

Adoption Fee: $350

Sam is a 28-year-old, male Yellow Napped Amazon.  Sam prefers men only. He will step up once he is away from his cage.  He loves to be the center of the attention, and will insert himself in any conversation.  His favorite toy is his red plastic phone, which he will shake with his foot and then set it down as if he is hanging it up.  He loves ringing the bells in his cage and singing along with the noise.  Sam is an excellent talker and loves to laugh and sing.  Some of his favorite songs are “I left my heart in San Francisco” and “Old McDonald.”  His favorite treats are cheerios. If you show him a treat, he will say “Look what I got.” Sam will keep you entertained and laughing for hours.

Sammy ‘Too is a 10-year-old, male Yellow-Cheek Lesser Sulphur Crested Cockatoo. He loves to talk, and play, and dance. Check out his photoshoot bluescreen dance. (link to FB video). He will thank you all day long saying “t’ank you, t’ank you.” When he goes to bed he says “good night, Sammy Yammy.” His favorite silly games are “choo-choo” and “spy.”  He prefers men but gets along with women. His favorite treat is home-made birdie bread.

Whisker is a 13-year-old female Black-Headed Caique. When she is the center of attention, she is her happiest and quietest. She is loving and wants to be to your best friend.  She adores sitting on you for hours, and will tuck herself into your collar. She says “Whisker, gimme kiss?” Adorable parrot for the right home. She is slightly feather picked. Whisker needs an experienced adult adopter without children in the household.

  Chopsy is a 20 year old, male. He loves to ride on your shoulder and talk in your ear. He says “momma” to the ones he loves. He likes other birds. He is stick trained and will get up on your hand. His favorite toy is a mirror bell that he loves to rub against and make it chime. Chopsy is a handsome little guy and is in perfect feather.

Jake is a 26-year-old, male Moluccan Cockatoo. He is very sweet and funny. He can get a little nervous and you can help him to feel secure.  Jake is looking for a forever home where he can get lots of attention and love. His favorite toy is a stainless steel bucket that he holds in his beak, fill it with more toys, then whacks it against the cage. Give him a sweet potato and he’s a very happy bird! He needs an adopter who understands the special personalities of a cockatoo.

Jester is a 18-year-old male Medium Sulphur Crested Cockatoo. Jester is beautiful and playful. His favorite phrase is “poor Jester.” He jabbers and talks mostly in “cockatoo.” We keep a separate play water dish in his cage because he likes to pack it with toys. He craves personalized attention and will ride on your shoulder wanting to go everywhere with you. He is complex and can easily get overloaded. We recommend an adopter with cockatoo experience. He is not good with kids, but is good with other birds. His favorite treat is homemade birdie bread.
